Have you ever worked in retail?
by: Anonymous

I would like to make a comment to Ms. Stoodleys rude and ignorant (meaning unknowing knowledge of how stores run)

First of all, each department has a person who takes care of each department. When you were in the mens department, you should have tried again to get someone to respond to your request to have your boys try on their clothes. I do agree that the staff should be around promptly for you or anyone to do so....the question is, how impatient were you?

Secondly, common sense tells you that you should not have taken your BOYS to a womens change room under no circumstances. Would you like it if any age of boys were in the change room when YOU were in the change room? Think about it.
.
As for staff standing around talking, do you know what they were talking about?

Also, again, I will repeat, each staff member has their own department to look after, if you were looking for someone in the mens department, you could have asked them if THEY looked after it... if not, they were not the ones to be expected to look after you... however, had you asked, they would likely have paged someone for you, no problem. BUT, did you ask? In case you have not noticed in Zellers the staff members wear intercoms... so they can do so, if requested.

You seem to assume that everyone that works there is responsible for every department. You are wrong... and quite possibly you don't know how Zellers or any retails runs.

As you quoted, everyone that walked past you did not help you...well, AGAIN, obviously it was not their department, but, AGAIN, did you ask them at all if they could page someone? You just assume everyone knows what you are wanting....even if you are standing near the change room, there are items for sale there, you may have been looking at those items...not everyone is a mind reader.

Yes, I do sound offensive...I do not work there, but, it is people like you who make a bad name for a CANADIAN store that is trying to survive yet.

OH, and I guess EVERYONE at Wal mart just jumps to help you in every department there eh?
I highly doubt it...unless of course, YOU ASK.

I would prefer if people like you do not shop at Zellers...cause it is impatient, rude people like you that make it hard to work at such places.

All it takes is some common sense.

Customers don't give breaks
by: Erwin

In response to the comment "Give them a break".

You said: "I'm feeling very stupid today so I'm going to judge an entire chain of stores based off of a few employees."

It's not fair, I agree. But the fact of the matter is that it takes a whole lot of great customer service experiences to cancel out one bad customer service experience.*

Trust comes by foot, but goes by horse.

Judging a whole chain of stores on one bad experience isn't fair, but it's reality. You cannot expect customers not to do that, because they do. Customers don't give breaks.

Now, you can either sulk about it, or do something about it. And the only one you can change is you, not the customer. What you do, your attitude, your actions, that makes the difference.

Kind regards,

Erwin.

*There's one exception to this rule: if a bad experience is immediately handled to the delight of the customer, that 'rebound' may actual turn out to be a slam dunk, and turn a customer into a loyal advocate.

GIVE THEM A BREAK!
by: Anonymous

Yes!! Let's all start buying American! Wait! not only that...I'm feeling very stupid today so I'm going to judge an entire chain of stores based off of a few employees.

As for stuff you return, do you know how much crap they probably get back in a month? Now answer this question when you see merchandise that's all taped up (obviously returned) are you more inclined to buy it? No. So why should a store not interrogate you a bit when you return things..they're to filter out the junk..or the stuff that people bring back that works fine but they claim it doesn't. I guess you just have to work in retail to truly understand it.

Zellers- Kingston Store
by: Anonymous

I agree,
Zellers has bad customer service.

All of those little staged meetings by the esculators with the managers and all of the staff in the mornings and they still suck for customer service. (What are they actually talking about?)

I returned an item today that was defective and the lady at the desk was very rude and kept going thats interesting hmmmmmmmmm hmmmmmmmmmmm
and questioning me.

I felt like she was interogating me and she made me feel like I stole it or it was my fault that it was defective--even though I had the receipt.

It was odd.

I will shop at the BETTER store from now on. Bye Zellers... Hello WALMART! They return items with a smile, not being RUDE. Zellers is more expensive and really rude.

Not very busy then...
by: Erwin

If they had the time to talk to each other, it probably wasn't very busy in the store. Which isn't strange; if this is the service mindset, the store will likely go the way of the Dodo. Thanks for sharing!
