TSC Store Smiths Falls, Ontario
by Nancy
I have on a few occassions been into the new TSC Store in Smiths Falls, ON. I have not at all been pleased with the service I have gotten. I have never seen a store hire as many people that are NOT at all knowledgeable of the products they have as the people in this store. I work in a retail store and I made sure that I know the product I am selling and if I am not completely sure on something I take the time to find out.
The first time I was in the store I asked for help in comparing horse feed. The girl I spoke with who was suppose to be the horse person had absolutely no clue in what I was asking her. All I asked was what feed was compariable to Purinas High Fat/High Fibre. All she did was tell me to go look at the paper on the wall and figure it out myself.
The next time I was in the store I asked a gentleman about a hat that has a sun sheild on it to protect your neck from sunburn. The response I got was: "I don't know. If I have it, it will be on the shelf, but I'm not sure." Instead of taking 2 minutes to come with me and look he just pointed in the direction of the door and said it might be over there.
The third time I was in the store I went in to be ear tags for cattle. All I wanted was the ones that repell flys. One girl did come over to the shelf with me, looked at the tags that were on the shelf and said: "I don't know what ones you're looking for. We have tags here, but I'm not sure if these or it. Let me go look in my book and I will order them for you." All I wanted was a simple answer, not an "I don't know" or point me in a direction. Take the customer to where the item may be. If you're not sure call a manager, hopefully they will have some brains about them and at least know what products they have in there store.
I own three horses, two cats, a dog, not to mention the cows, cats, and dogs on our family farm. I tend to spend a good amount of money on my animals, but can tell you I will not do it at TSC stores. Smiths Falls, ON store is the worst store I have ever been to. If you're gonna hire people to do these jobs at least make sure they have knowledge of their department. My 13 year old daughter could run the pets department better then anyone of the employees there. At least she has knowledge of horses and can help a customer in need.
I have been a manager in retail, and I would not allow my staff to blow off customers the way TSC employees do. I have no problem tellling them in the store that they have no idea what they are doing, and need to maybe learn a thing or two if they want to keep customers.
The TSC Store in Smiths Falls, ON is the worst. I will spend the extra money in gas to travel elsewhere to get the product I need, and usually at a better price too.
