Talk about hitting the nail on the head
by: Frustrated CS Professional

This article gets it exactly right! As someone who has worked in customer service for over 10 years I find that no matter how good the job you are doing, if you don't tell the customer what THEY want to hear, you either "don't like your job" or you're "not servicing" the customer. They would rather be reassured than hear the truth.

Being a good customer
by: Anonymous

I've always found that if you are polite you get a better service.

For example, whenever I have workmen in my house I always take care of them. I offer them a cup of tea or coffee, or a cold drink if they prefer.

Once they have told me what they like to drink I then keep them supplied with drinks through out the day.

I have even cooked meals for some workmen because they worked late to get a job finished for me.

If you are a nice customer you will always get a better service.

Yes, there is such a thing as bad customers
by: Erwin

I wrote an article about this very subject, named "The Customer is always Right, Right?" that you may enjoy to read:

The Customer is always Right, Right?

Thanks for sharing!

Whoa there
by: Anonymous

" 75% of the time, bad customer service starts with bad customers. Would you want to help somebody who screams and calls you names from the get go because they think it's going to get them what you want? I'm sure the answer is no. Not every customer is bad and believe it or not it is a joy to talk to these people. The problem is for every good customer there is 20 bad ones."

I disagree with that. I understand your points on if the customer doesn't follow the suggestions for a product, etc. But some stores DO reward you for coming back over and over, in the form of special coupons, etc.

But bad customers or not, prospects must be treated with respect. I'm not saying you should put up with abuse of any sort, but if you work for this company and a motto or requirement is to treat customers with respect, regardless of how less-kind they are, then you need to follow it or find another job where customers are not treated equally.
