Street Smart Internet Marketing by Justin Michie

Street Smart Internet MarketingBeing a successful webmaster has its perks. Recently I was asked to review the new Internet book by Justin Michie called “Street Smart Internet Marketing”. Michie, a self made Internet Marketeer, has written this book as an easy to understand “how to” on Internet Marketing.

Now, many so-called Internet “guru’s” would like you to believe that making it, no, making it BIG on the Internet is easy as pie (fortunately, Justin is not one of them). But this is all smoke and mirrors. Earning any kind of income on the Net requires work and dedication. Simply because there are countless aspects to an Internet business, and you have to master many of them.

As far as I can tell, Justin has covered them all (new techniques may have popped up already, they do all the time, it’s the nature of the business). In no less than 38 chapters he covers many subjects. Here’s a small selection:

Every chapter makes clear that Justin Michie is a natural communicator. He explains the subject well, even though it’s impossible for him to cover all the aspects of a certain subject in the book. By his own admission, he could write a complete book on each subject, not just a chapter.

But Justin knows his stuff… he knows how to get to the core of the subject, the advice he gives is sound and clearly comes from experience. So while you won’t learn everything there is to know on a given subject, the advice given is expert advice that is good to keep in mind and implement where possible. And I’m sure there are some aspects you haven’t even heard about, especially when you have just started online.

Knowing the possibilities and threats is what it all starts with. Ignorance is bliss… if you don’t care about your business!

While this book is a pleasure to read, and you will learn a lot about what real Internet Marketing is about, I do have a few points of criticism. By the sheer volume of subjects I can imagine that readers will be overwhelmed by everything they can do to improve their Internet business. Some sort of guidance or prioritizing of suggested actions would be helpful. You can spend masses amount of time on just about any specific technique, but certain techniques are just more important to your bottom line than others.

Also, at points I would have structured the book differently. For example, in the book, naming your website comes before keyword research. But from my experience I found that it’s a good idea to do keyword research before you name your website… First to see how many people are actually interested in your favorite subject(s), and second –also very important– how big your competition is.

Don’t give this book a pass because of this! This is just minor stuff considering the length and width and depth of the subject... Justin Michie has taken on a big elephant, and he helps you eat it one spoonful at the time. Street Smart Internet Marketing will give you a great insight on most if not all aspects of your Internet business. The advice is sound and from experience.

It’s like having an expert at your side that you can call on for just about any Internet subject, who shares his experience and best practices with you.

Street Smart Internet Marketing is excellent value for money!
