Yup, I agree: its a bad place

If you shopping there is bad try working there. 1.6 years of my life was wasted at that craphole.

You will have to deal with many many uneducated, ignorant and abusive washouts.

DO NOT SHOP THERE EVER! go to CT or Home hardware- forget those big U.S. crap companies- they all suck.

Goto small shops- much much better customer service.

Had the exact same problem when buying a dishwasher and a (would-have-been-wonderful) electric fireplace with a granite top.

I insisted that the floor clerk open the granite top package. Sure enough it was cracked in half. He said they never would have taken it back, thinking I had broken it in transit. He said this happens all the time.

He had been extremely reluctant to open that package. Said he never heard of anyone asking for such assistance as I requested. He barely spoke English and grumbled the whole time. Major undertaking to open that packaging.

Since that experience I would be reluctant to buy anything other than light bulbs and other small items that can be visually evaluated before leaving the premises.

Home Depot Q2 results not greeted well

From the Home Depot Q2/2007 results news release:

"the challenging housing market continues to present us with a tough selling environment"

Of course, it's a tough selling environment. So, if this is the case, HD and their competitors may want to take a hard look at how customers are more easily persuaded to buy (and buy again!) by good service.
