My Acer laptop computer simply died one day, and I couldn't even turn it on!

I expected the usual hassle that one gets calling a computer company ... long waits and customer service representatives who do not speak intelligible English ... but Acer computer suprised me by being promptly available and having knowledgeable customer service representatives to quickly help me send in my computer for warranty repair.

I'm not sure how the whole repair process will go, but I was very pleasantly suprised by their helpful and prompt customer service staff!

My Acer laptop, felt extremely hot, so i pulled power cord. it cools and voila, no more lights or power. So I shipped it off. to Acer Service Corporation and without contacting me they ship it back un repaired 5 weeks later. no indications in package why. Call center explains that I damaged it with liquid and it had been unscrewed and opened therefore warranty voided. Two absolute fallacies. it was a few months old and barely out of the box. on to level two complaints ; more firewall. They have pictures of liquid damage and screws...from where?? absolute lies. Now i await corporate headquarters return call. I suppose they will confirm I am the liar. No access to the repair facility in missassauga or the hardware tech that photographed the spill site and damaged screws. Just an endless line of phone kiosks in call centers occupied 24/7 by a vast army of the unwashed - all certain I'm lying.DO NOT PURCHASE ACER - YOU WILL PAY LATER.

seems got infected. don't have any plan, however I actually have ifnected with generic thirty three.exe or one thing like theses and got it removed with the assistance from teesupport. I jsut saw however they operated and these guys hook up with my pc and glued it at intervals 20minutes.

Acer laptops blow NEW

I've had 4 Acer Laptops.....the 1st refurbished one lasted me 14 months...the other brand new one lasted just 13 months and the warranty expired.
The 3rd one lasted 8 months and was replaced by a model that did'nt dual core capabilities, like the previous one but was covered under the 1 yr. warranty from the 3rd one. That one just lasted for 5 months and was sent in for repairs in Vancouver. That one was in the Vancouver service center for over 6 weeks. Report came back that the motherboard and SAN files and a thermal something or other were gone and the repair bill would be $100. They said coffee was spilled into the machine. I'm allergic to coffee. Go figure.

Acer malware cure

Acer is full of malware. Delete games,and microsoft office. Do not allow leader technologies software to run or adobe to start. Repartition c drive to get rid of hidden partition ( with easeus partition master) and your "new" computer will work fine.

Don't Waste Your Money On ACER Computers

I purchased an ACER Aspire 3810-T computer two years ago for $660. 3 weeks ago, the left portion of the screen began to darken and then the entire screen began to go dark until eventually the entire screen went dark. The computer still boots up, however the screen no longer works. I took it to an independent repair center and they confirmed the screen is the defective component and wanted $250 to repair it. I called ACER support service and ACER wanted $199 + tax to repair the screen, however when you add shipping to/from, I'm still looking at $250 to repair the screen. I requested to speak with a floor supervisor in an attempt to have ACER accept SOME portion of responsibility for the repair of the screen. I was willing to pay something, however I believe ACER should also accept some responsibility for defective products. ACER's response was no. I currently own 3 laptops, of which the ACER is the newest and least used; this computer has never been dropped, so for a screen to stop working seems very odd. I will NEVER purchase an ACER product again.

I have purchased an Acer Aspire one just one month ago, and I have noticed , just after an air travel to Korea and back , I have found a very big black circle on the LCD screen and found the liquid is leaking inside, there was no other external damage, pressing, piercing, and there was no sign of physical abuse or shock . When I have reported the problem to their customer support in Mumbai, even with out seeing the LCD, the technical support person said it is a physical damage and it can not be replaced free of cost. The technical support was very rude, and they were only interested in the warranty term that LCD physical damage is not covered under warranty.I am totally at loss and there was no physical damage to best of my knowledge .

Back lights in acer is terrible, bought a ACER last year. after 14 days, back light broken. repair took 1 month. got it back. two months later - same shit. got the message that they couldn't duplicate the problem - resend. filed a complain. got new computer. new computer - same shit. it's been in for three months now. after 3 days they send message that i could expect it within 3 working days. after one and a half month, and several very rude support handlers. they suddenly realize that the computer is not repairable. they gonna send me a new one.. that is one and a half month ago.. still no computer!
Shitty computers, shitty service. Bought a new brand. Acer sucks.

My laptop's HDD starting clicking. I knew it would happen as it is just a netbook, which i was using it to runt photoshop and cad programs 7 hours a day, every week for the past 14 months, moving it to uni and work, while also keeping it on standby most of the time. Nothing Acer could do as that is the nature of hardware. IT CAN FAIL !!! of course my 8 year old desktop never had that problem cause the HDDs don't get tossed around all day.

Anyways, I called them up. Very polite, I hadn't registered in just over a year and accepted without any hassle. Sent me an eparcel and I dropped it off. In just under a week they said its been repaired and will send it within two days.

The reason why they may seem "inconsiderate" at times is maybe because the problem may be the user (ahh-hmm. Without knowing you may have loaded inappropriate software, or some of you may not be a "PC no it all" and install 5 different antivirus and firewalls at once thinking the more you have the safer you'd be. Well if that is the case, then TUFF !! Its not their problem you cannot use a Microsoft OS system.

If your not pc friendly BUY A MAC. (and you only have to use ONE mouse click ooooowww)

If your a tight ass and bought an acer for the cashback, then good luck with life, and don't give "oh I tight under cash, and need a cheap 'new' Laptop". That is horse shit. If you cannot afford it, DONT LOOK AND BUY IT.

All in all, acer pound for pound one of the best laptops around. Bought my second laptop now, and am very happy with it, as I were with the old one. some of you may have decent and genuine problems (and I understand completely, but then again you wouldn't be here), for the rest of you get a life.

Why I won't be buying another acer

It's a shame, I had an acer which worked well for years. When I died, bought another one and it's playing up on me. I've had everything from warranty issues through to acer royally messing me around by not contacting me when they're meant to and cancelling my claim when they never told me when they were going to pick the computer up until the morning they wanted it and I didn't have it with me (And I told them I would need to know at least a day in advance so I could bring it with me to work). I've submitted another claim, hopefully this one will go through. Its been many weeks of messing around. I'm hoping it will get fixed, apparently they reserve the right to use refurbished parts to fix the computer rather than new ones. Also I have no idea how long they are going to have my computer (I've heard anything from a week to 3 weeks+)Frustrating and Stressful!

The second repair session, they actually found the problem, but when I received the monitor back it was still buzzing. The monitor was also sent back to me scratched up. Let me tell you that the monitor was in perfect condition before sending it in the first time.TERRIBLE SERVICE AVOID AT ALL COST! The customer service also assured me that everything was repaired. Acer should never be trusted they are deceiving and lying scum bags. I regret my purchase and I truly regret sending it in.

Android Tablets

I am an Andoid Tablet user, but I have to say that I have been disapointed when I started to use it.

I realized quickly that it has mostly the same features than a smartphone...!

I was expecting something closer to a real computer, allowing me, from tyhe OS, to connect to any network to exchange files, to print, to scan... Unfortunately this is not the case.

I recently red that Google is preparing a version 4 of Android, common for the phones and the tablets. I hope Google will have the good idea to keep 2 different versions. Why would you buy a 300 Dollars tablet to have the same features, with a bigger screen, than any smartphone usually offered by your phone company. And every time you go to a web site, you are directely sent to the mobile version. This way we can be sure that the future of the Android tablets is compromised.

I think, as a tablet user, people expect from the tablets to be able to replace their old laptops. Smaller, lighter, you can take it anywhere and everywhere, but, only if you can do everything with it...

My acer 5532 died while using it, they wanted $199 just to send it in to look at without the cost of fixing it if it could be...REALLY....the whole computer was 299. WTF! I guess you get what you pay for....the customer service sucks. Will stick with HP. Sorry.

I called 800-237-6483 on 08-12-2011@12:10pm talked to a lady by the name of monica her badge number gwah405 very very RUDE...see I bought my labtop with windows vista and I wanted to put windows 7 on it...so I called acer to ask for windows 7 so i can put it on it they said no problem and they sent me a cd..will when I got it. I loaded windows 7 professional and when I got done a little window came up and said build 7600 THIS COPY OF WINDOWS IS NOT GENUINE So I called acer and they said they would have to erase everything off and re-do my computer..I told them I would call back because I have alot of pics on there they said no problem..so I called today and this is what I get...this is bs and I will make sure that all my friends and family know about this...they suck so bad...they need to do a dateline on crap like this...I will never ever buy another product of acer and that goes for there partners..I don't care if its free I still wouldn't take it...

I was going to purchase a $689 monitor today and all I needed to do was verify the VESA mount size and could not even talk to a person to get an answer. My Acer Aspire laptop suddenly started making weird beeps when the charger was moved at all after being plugged in. Then it died completely. I ordered another battery, thinking that might help. Nothing. It is now totally dead and will not charge, and the new battery didn't do a thing.
Money wasted. It's not under warranty so after all of these comments, I am going to throw it in the trash and get another P.C. to replace it.
I, too, will never buy Acer products again!!!!

flickerring screen

Well first off i want to say that the first reveiw comment must have been made by Acer.
I have bought 3 laptops and the third has not worked properly since almost new. Thelt was not used a lot but we started noticing it flickerring
after having it only a few months. We took it back to place we bought it and they checked it and thought they had found a loose wire. I took it home and it was still flickerring. I took it back again and they tried something else still no help. They then said they couldn't do much else with it and sent it back to acer, I waited 2 months got it backoppenned it at the store and it immediately started flickerring around worse than ever. It went back again, came back no change sent it out a third time and it is worse now than ever. Acer you need to get it together ..

I have had to send my laptop back twice and in each case, I have received poor customer service. Recently, I received an email stating that my laptop had been repaired and is being shipped back to me via E-ship with no tracking. I called customer service to obtain a tracking number and they gave the same tracking number that I used to ship my labtop for repair. And furthermore, they have representaives that do not speak fluent English. They really SUCK!

Aspire keys falling off

I was going to buy a Acer Aspire from Costco tomorrow, the last day of the sale but after all the reports I have read about keys falling off and looking at one at Costco and seeing how thin the keys are, so easy to lift one off with a fingernail. I have seen a display one at Sams with 1/2 the keys missing (Sams is in a less than affluent neighborhood).
so now im out to look at something else maybe Toshiba, no HP!

The screen went dark, can't get it back up, but the machine does not respond when I try to turn it off. I called the customer service line, and gave them the serial number. The then said your model is no longer under warranty, GOODBYE. and hung up. Can't beat service like that, right?

My Acer desktop i bought in July 08 just died.....the whole damned thing. i believe that they are set to break down. when one thing goes the whole shooting match does. i took it to best buy because the warranty had expired... not only did the power supply die but the motherboard and video card. i am a single woman who works hard and tries to make ends meet...i will never waste my money again. i have had issues with it from the get go.
within the first week it would not log online. i kept getting errors that my ethernet cable was bad...really? i mean all 4 that i tried? b.s. so i take it to Best Buy and wham..it works...i take it home and it works...for a week..i did this 7 times in the first year. i had the comcast guys come out...nothing on their end. and my 8 year old hp still connects, no issues

i will never buy another Acer. Thank goodness all my stuff is on an external harddrive. i am writing a book and would have lost the whole damned thing if i relied on acer.

so i have to manipulate my budget so i can continue to write. In this economy can one really afford products that are unreliable?

I sent a netbook to ACER for warranty service; Dead MoBo. They call me & state that something was spilled in it & not covered by warranty. They send it back. Being a tech myself, I opened the machine to fix the system myself. I found that they never opened it. How could they detect a spill? Stay away from these clowns. THey are part of the Gateway conglomerate now. (Remember who is now saddled with E-machines?)

@ the person that needed their monitor fixed, congratulations. Mine has dead pixels all over the place, I've had it for less than a month... 3yr warranty, you think it would be great but think again. I phoned to get it repaired or if they could ship me a new one to replace mine, well it turns out "The warranty doesn't cover if you read down more. It only covers if the pixels are in clusters or ONE PIXEL is in the center of the screen... Like what the hell is up with their horrible service!? Anybody thinking about getting Acer products, i strongly advise you to get another brand unless you enjoy wasting money.

I have taken an acer aspire laptop.After three months the keypad started troubling me. The system is also very slow.One of the keys came out of the keypad.When I contacted the customer support they have given me the service point address.When I went to them they were asking me for a case ID since the laptop is under warranty.If you take any warranted laptop to the service point these bulshit service people will play with your time.They said they wouldn't help me unless i book a case ID for it.If that's the case why the hell did the cso inform me about the case ID when I contacted her..Bloody company has to be banned for its bad service.I will spread this word that Acer products shouldn't be bought to all the people I know.

Acer Monitor Repair

This company should be boycotted by everyone. Only then will they start to see how little it would cost to invest in Customer Service. I just spent 36days repairing a monitor which now they finally said, we'll give you another one- Basically what I asked for in the beginning. They kept sending it out via Fedex when I work 2min. down the street from the Repair Depot so that just prolonged each event. I'd get it back only to find they broke the bezel. Whoever packed it thought I wouldn't mind the plastic trim ripped apart with a screwdriver and a portion of the screen broken! I finally had it and bought a new monitor and asked Acer to just keep the monitor there and refund me for my new one. They said too bad, you can keep this as a backup. I plan on delivering it via the front windows of HQ very soon.

Acer are the worst

My uncle bought a brand new Acer Aspire laptop from a store a couple of months back, he has never been able to use it for long, ever since new it has been going back and forth from Acer, it has problems with the display, visual artifacts, spikes and squares appearing all over the place on the screen, he complained about it to the store the first day he used it, the store wouldn't help so he rang Acer, and they told him to download a video driver, that this is a simple fix, it did nothing, they told him to do it again, then they told him to reset it to factory settings, which had already been done in the store, as it was a diplay model. Then he had to ship it to them overseas, it came back and apparently a part in the screen had been replaced and they found other software/driver faults as well which they apparently fixed, it took several weeks, but it made no difference it still has the same fault, he sent it back again for several weeks, and it came back with no faults found, but it still has the same fault, he took pictures of the fault occuring on the screen and loaded them onto the computer for the technician at Acer to view, he told them that they were there, they said they would look at them, but didn't, the laptop came back with no faults found again, and they had scratched it over the top of the lid very badly, it is a long deep scratch, like it was done with a screw-driver, it is almost cut right through the plastic. They must have done it because it was beneath the protective plastic they had applied for shipping. Of course he rang them immediately and complained, he also tried the store he bought it from again, but they were rude and unhelpful, nobody believed him because Acer said it was fine. When he threatened to legal action, the store said they wanted to send it to their technician first, they said it would probably be a month or so, he said he would try Acer again, Acer told him if he sent it to the store's tech it would no longer be covered under there warranty, they told him to send it back, he told them to look at the pictures he took of the fault, and to fix the scratch, they said they would, but didn't, he rang again, and they said he never mentioned a scratch, although he also left a note with the laptop, they told him to send it back, this is the same day it arrived back from overseas, and there manager would look at it. Why don't they just replace it? If the store and Acer think there is nothing wrong with it just give the man another one, and save all this trouble for everyone, or give his money back. The DSE store just keeps saying it probably has a virus, which is extremely unlikely considering it has been restored constantly since new has always had updated norton virus program on it. Now he hates the thing, and all the trouble it has brought, warranties count for very little these days, and after sales service is a joke.

I purchased my Aceer in Dubai and called the Acer Store in the US to get an extended warrenty. They were so nice and helpful and charged me including tax US$215. They assured me I could use the warrenty in the US when I came home. Well guess what! I called and they infomed me I did not have a warrenty. Thank goodness I kept the email confirmation and my AM X bill to proof payment. After about 20 phone calls I found someone who admitted I had the warrenty but said it was not valid. I told them I thought that was not right but Who AM I. They would not honor the warrenty but finally returned my money. I did not want the money, I wanted the warrenty. I will never buy an Acer anything again. A very dissatified not very important to Acer person.....

I purchased an Acer Aspire Desktop at the end of September 2008. Guess what !!! It died on New Years Eve 2009. It has been in the repair shop now for 2.5 weeks awaiting an answer from numerous emails sent to Acer. I have also been on the phone to the Acer, only to be given the runaround, and one of the "helpers" suggested that I contact the Acer website. HELLO ...... As I explained to the guy, the tower was in for repair, how was I supposed to use the computer???? Maybe he knows something that I dont!!!

After all, how difficult is in to reply to an email asking about the price and availability of a motherboard????

In my opinion, Acer stink.

Bought an Acer Aspire, it died after warranty. So I called the Manufacturer to get it fixed. And guess what? They can't have it repaired for the warranty has expired. So i said, 'I dont care if I have to pay, just get it fixed'. Instead, they've pushed me into one of the local repair shop. Now I know that acer doesn't care much to their customers. I dont want to buy any Acer product again. Though they have great designs for affordable prices, underneath it all, it is going to fail specially right after the warranty expires (this has happened in alot of cases, and Acer has the most returned items compared to rival products). The service was very poor, the product fails (very unreliable), and they all have excuses after ripping your money out of you. I should have bought the HP laptop.

I had an acer desk top "fry" on me. Only 2 years old and I was told since the warranty is over I should purchase "talk time" to the tune of close TO $200.00 in order for technical support to speak to me about the problem. IT IS UTTERLY UNACCEPTABLE for this garbage.

My Acer crashed under warranty and while the repair time was long it was repaired. Now it has crashed again nd needs yer another new mother board and the automated service informed me that it is out of warranty and hung up on me. Needless to say this will be the last Acer i ever buy!

Acer does not care

I purchased an Acer laptop with over heated around the top, and longer booted up. I sent the computer back for repairs to only be told I would need to $199.00 for repair. I am a 48 year old woman. They said the screws had been taken and a wire cut, therefore the repair was no longer under warrenty. They accused me of doing this and refuse to fix the laptop that happened to be less than a year old. I took the call all the way to corporate with no one willing to help me. They all sound like broken records repeating the same thing. I was told by UPS store worker they ship at least 15 compouter back a week...wow! Acer did not want to honor the warrenty and now I'm out of my hard earn money and no laptop.

i bought the acer aspire one, 2 months later my password wouldent work, its a 3 letter password, so i didint 4 get it or miss spell it,i called acer customer suport, that sent me 2 another department, that said it was a software problem and i would have 2 pay with a credit card 4 a service teck 2 walk me throught the steps, i asked about my 1 yr warrenty, thay said that warrenty only covered hardware not software,i said no, i googled my problem, and i left my sd card in the slot, and that caused my problems, i will never buy an acer product again, my last laptop was hp, there customer suport was awsome,

I just got an Acer Aspire X1700 desktop. I installed it yesterday. I had problems with it immediately, got frustrated and just quit for the night. Today, I found it cannot connect to the internet. Customer service was extremely disappointing. I had a really hard time understanding the gentleman I got on the phone -- heavy accent, talked fast and lots of static on the line. He seemed to get angry with me because I had to ask him to repeat himself frequently. Apparently, a driver or something is missing. I talked to another customer service rep who was more easily understood, but no more helpful. Both advised me to just go to an Acer website, download something to a zip drive and install on my BRAND NEW computer. "Happens all the time; very simple to fix." Uh huh. I happen to think several surgical procedures are simple. Doubt they'd feel the same.

I don't even pretend to know a whole lot about computers, but this is the 4th desktop I've had, first Acer after 2 Compaq and 2 HP. Unfortuneately, I waited 4 days too long to install after purchase. It's been more than 2 weeks, or the whole mess would just go back to Best Buy and I would get the HP.

I'll never go near an Acer product again, largely because of the poor customer service experience I've had.

I bought a very inexpensive Acer laptop for my mother to use Skype and e-mail. Just after the warranty expired it quit working. I e-mailed Acer (without much hope) and received a phone call from a representative. He authorized the repair, the motherboard was replaced and the computer is working. The whole experience was a surprise and I am recommending everybody to buy Acer products if they are thinking about a PC (I'm a very happy Mac user), since I had to deal with other companies before and their service was very poor.

I tried to get my battery replaced, because it will not hold a charge. It is still under warranty. I called the number and was so HARD to understand them!!! The customer service is located in India.

They wanted me to give them my credit card number and would ship me the new battery. I, in turn, would send the defective one back--WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS??? Never--ever give someone your number to hold!!!!!!

The other way was to send the battery in to them. NO WAY...I am not leaving a big opening in my computer.

SOULTION: Turn matter over to the state attorney's office. This is a legal matter!!!!

Keys

For some reason my keys seem to pop off for no reason at all! now i have a total of 3 keys missing in less than a week and one is starting to fall off.

I am only a teenager and my last laptop broke so this is my second laptop and i am not allowed a new one because i went with the new Acer which was really expensive but i have used desktops and other peoples laptops and they tend to hit the keyboard much harder than I do but they don't have any of their keys missing!

When others downgrade their service, what used to be standard becomes exceptional. But being without a computer can be very annoying (especially if you have an online business!) so I'm happy for you that it's been taken care of quickly. Thanks for sharing!
